Making a picture

I am always looking around when I shoot to make sure I don’t have clutter in the background and to make sure that it appears pleasing and complementary to the picture I am trying to capture and the story I am trying to convey.  To be honest, I get a joy out of making the most out of my shooting environment, whatever that may be.

A few of the events I have photographed have been located in a steel building that looked amazing.  You would have never known that the actual structure was what it was due to the flexibility in being able to build out and decorate the building to look like something else.

I sometimes pick a background that you would not normally think to use.  Sometimes I am able to obtain the image I see in my head, but not always.  I guess that’s part of the creative process, to see something and to then make it happen in your pictures.
